Praised for its architecture, beaches, and animated nightlife, Barcelona is not often advertised as a family destination. Yet, the Catalan city is among the best European destinations for families with kids. Some would say that this is due to Mediterranean lifestyle and culture, which are very family centered. But apart from this, there are numerous family attractions in Barcelona, from playgrounds and theme parks, to kids-friendly museums.  Here are a few suggestions for an fun family excursion in Barcelona:

Beaches

One of the greatest joys for Barcelona tourists are the beaches. Few adults and even fewer kids will say no to a day at the beach, and, although they are quite populated, Barcelona beachesoffer the full Mediterranean experience, with clean water and plenty of sun. The two most popular beaches in Barcelona are Braceloneta and Icaria. The nearby Sitges is also known for its blue-flagged beaches and bohemian atmosphere. One thing to keep in mind though: Spain has plenty of nude beaches, so it’s best if you do a little research before any beach trip.
